8th Place Olympia Competition
For the last several years, Angie has transformed herself into a nationally ranked fitness competitor. She is a writer for Body Building Magazine and other fitness publications. Angie spends much of her time traveling the country competing in fitness shows, modeling and doing guest appearances. A birth defect left Angie with a malformed hip socket, limiting her range of motion and reducing the ability of her leg to function normally. Despite the complications in her hip she continued participating and competing in athletics. Through extremely hard work and preparation she began setting her eyes on a fitness career.
Angie credits Dr. Cragg and the rest of the staff of the Saint Louis Injury and Rehabilitation Center, for keeping her healthy through training and competitions. The rigorous training schedule, competitions and travel have an effect on her level of fitness as well as how her body repairs. She spends a great deal of time working with the Tracie (Massage Therapist), the A.R.T. staff and Dr. Frenzel.
Ongoing chiropractic adjustments have allowed Angie to achieve mobility in her joints beyond hip problems and numerous other injuries. She has sustained sprains and strains in each of her extremities and has worked with the staff to regain a balance throughout her skeletal frame. Flexibility in her routines is paramount to her continued success.
Active release technique to the muscles and soft-tissue structures have helped remove scar tissue, lengthen muscles and tendons and provide strong supportive tissues and ongoing massage with the staff helps maintain this balance providing relaxation along withincrease in lymphatic and blood flow.
According to Saint Louis Injury and Rehabilitation Center's Dr. Bill Cragg, "Angie's physical demands on her body create different areas of stress and eventual breakdown of not only muscle tissue but also her joints. Simply adjusting her spinal joints and extremities was not enough to keep her competitive. Soft-tissue work with Tracie and A.R.T. complete her care by making it much more comprehensive."
Angie prepares for her competitions utilizing the expertise of many people. Her choreographers are some of the top in the U.S., her training facility is Powerhouse Gym in St. Louis (owned and operated by her and husband, Roger) and her nutrition is near perfect. She recognizes that in order to compete at the highest level requires her to "Train Smart, Train Hard and Train Healthy!"
"Ongoing care has helped me reduce the pain experienced in my hip and improve the flexibility in my whole body." -Angie Semsch
